Summer Camp Questions
How are cabin bunkmates assigned?
Cabin assignments are determined by your camperís age, with consideration given to groups. Cabin Mate Requests are made on the Registration Form. It is our policy to do our best to honor mutual requests, however, due to space limitations, we cannot guarantee all Cabin Mate Requests.

Do counselors stay in the cabins with the campers?
YES! Each of our cabins contains counselor's rooms where two counselors can sleep and watch over the rest of the campers.

How may I write my camper during Summer Camp?
Campers love to receive mail! Remember to mail early in the week to insure delivery. Please put your camperís name and session name on the envelope. This helps us sort the mail quickly, and deliver it to your camper each day. Let grandparents and friends know your camperís address as well. Thanks!

What if my camper is a picky eater?
Each day we provide a nutritionally-balanced breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Taking pride in our meals, daily an assortment of homemade breads, pastries, and fresh fruits are included. For the picky eater, we always keep jars of peanut butter and jelly handy.

How does The Canteen work?
During the summer, The Canteen is where campers may purchase everything from candy to T-shirts. A full arrangement of candy, pop, ice cream, popcorn, sweatshirts, shirts, hats, and souvenirs are available, with a friendly staff to assist you. Campers are not allowed to have any cash in their possession during the Summer Camp session. The Canteen operates on a credit system. A deposit is required during registration for the campers to charge against. Any unused balance will be refunded. For those attending a Specialty Session that will leave the grounds of Phantom Ranch, money will be reimbursed accordingly for use in purchasing a meal at a fast-food restaurant, souvenirs, candy, and other needs.

Are campers allowed to add to their Canteen money while they are at camp?
YES! At the beginning of their session, campers are encouraged to place all money into The Canteen. On occasion, campers receive extra money during the week, sometimes sent in a letter or package from home. We encourage this money be added to camperís Canteen account as well.
The process is simple. Just take any extra money to The Canteen, and the staff there will delightfully add the additional amount to the camperís Canteen card. Of course, any money not spent will be returned at the end of the week.

What if my camper gets homesick?
At Phantom Ranch, we take homesickness very seriously. Our Directors and staff are well prepared to handle these situations. Our experience has given us the following insights:
  • Homesickness is usually avoidable if signs are caught early.
  • Once a camperís parents/guardians are not the focus, other activities and friends fill the void.
  • Parents/guardians are usually more worried about leaving their campers then vice versa.
If a homesickness problem continues, we will contact the parents/guardians as soon as possible. Refunds will be handled by the Executive Director on a case-by-case basis.

Does the Ranch search camperís bags upon registration?
Your bags are not checked upon entry, but please be aware of the guidelines we have established on items brought to camp (refer to the Packing Lists we provide in the Parent Info sections on this website). Items such as guns, knives, radios, CD & cassette players, video games, alcohol, drugs, or tobacco are prohibited. Any of these items found will be taken during the camp session and returned on the last day of the session.

Are there any dicounts for missionaries or pastors?
Campers whose parents are pastors, full-time missionaries, or full-time Christian camp workers are granted a 50% discount on the Camper Fee of raditional, Horsemanship, and Teen Sessions and a 25% discount on the Camper Fee of PRO Trips and Family Adventures (discount does not include Registration Fee). No other discounts apply when using this discount. In order to receive this discount, a letter describing ministry affiliation on ministry letterhead must accompany Registration Form; we do not hold letters from year to year. Other conditions may apply.

What is the Regitration Fee?
The Registration Fee is paid in advance and is sent with your Registration Form to reserve a space for your camper. A separate Registration Fee is needed for each session, and is non-refundable.

What is the camp fee?
The Camper Fee is the main cost of the session, and is stated in our pricing chart. This fee varies for each session, so check the rates for each accordingly. The Camper Fee and Optional Fees are due upon arrival at the Ranch for your session.

Is there a discount for large familes?
For families, who send more than two children from the same immediate family to any session throughout the summer, there will be a $50.00 discount on your third and subsequent children. Please note that the full Registration Fee is required for all campers per session. Other conditions may apply.

What time is registration?
For Phantom Ranch sessions Sunday Registration is between 3:15 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
